MANILA, Philippines -- Now that Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria) and Sir Chief (Richard Yap) are officially a couple in "Be Careful With My Heart," what can fans of the hit "kilig-serye" still expect in future episodes?
After nine months on air, the country's No. 1 daytime program finally showed its lead characters exchanging "I love you's" and deciding to become a couple in episodes aired in early May.
"Ako, honestly happy ako for Maya and Sir Chief," Sta. Maria said in an interview on "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday.
"Siyempre lumevel-up na sila 'di ba. Nakakatuwa kasi 'yun din naman 'yung gusto ng mga manonood natin," the 30-year-old actress said.
Seen to be the climax of the series so far, Maya and Sir Chief's dating phase isn't all there is to look forward to in "Be Careful With My Heart," according to Yap.
"Siyempre sa next level, kung merong 'I love you,' meron ding tampuhan, merong LQ-LQ (lovers' quarrel) to spice things up. So expect more of those things," the 46-year-old actor said.
In recent episodes of "Be Careful With My Heart," Sir Chief, whose actual name is Richard Lim, is seen building close relationships with Maya's family members.
The couple is also seen struggling to settle whether to keep their relationship a secret from Richard's children.
First aired in July 2012 and originally set for a one-season run, "Be Careful With My Heart" has been extended numerous times due to its popularity, and is now close to airing for a year.
In April, ABS-CBN president and chief executive officer Charo Santos-Concio said in jest that the series will stay on air "forever," when asked if it will be extended once again.
"It will be there forever (laughs). Hanggang magkaroon ng apo (laughs). That's always a challenge for our content creators. The challenge is always for the next big hit... but for the meantime, as long as the public is supporting 'Be Careful With My Heart,' it will be there," she said.
