MANILA – Tommy Esguerra admitted that he and Miho Nishida no longer communicate with each other following their split which made news headlines last month.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Esguerra explained that it would be much easier for the two of them to move on “if you just cut it.”
“The bigger the relationship, the bigger the love you had for each other, the harder it is to move on,” he said.
Asked how he is moving forward after the breakup, Esguerra said: “It’s a process talaga. Kailangan mo to go through the emotions. Just take your time, reinvest in yourself, spend time with family.”
Esguerra also shared that the biggest lesson he learned from their failed relationship is that “you can’t expect happiness from other people because you should find it in yourself first.”
Despite what happened, Esguerra still wishes Nishida well. As to their supporters who have mixed reactions over their breakup, he only has this to say: “Sa mga supporters at sa mga bahers at 'yung mga in between, I’m thankful for you guys no matter what. I wish the best for all of you, for Miho, for all of our careers and just happy 2017.”
Former contestants of "Pinoy Big Brother," Nishida and Esguerra met during their reality show stint. Their pairing, dubbed "ToMiho," spawned a following for their sweet on-cam moments.
They officially became a couple in December 2015 when Esguerra asked Nishida to be his girlfriend on an episode of "It's Showtime."
He said at the time: "Miho, maski sandali pa lang tayong magkasama, pakiramdam ko habangbuhay na kitang kilala. Ikaw ang nagpapaganda ng araw ko. Dahil sa iyo, nababaliw ako....Napakahalaga mo sa akin at hindi kita pababayaan Miho."
Esguerra even introduced Nishida to his family in California in January last year.
The two recently starred in the daytime series "Langit Lupa."
