Xian Lim speaks up on 'Captain Barbell' rumors
MANILA - Actor Xian Lim finally addressed rumors that he will be the next actor to play the role of the iconic Filipino superhero Captain Barbell.
In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com and other reporters on Thursday as he launched his album "XL2" under Star Records, Lim said that he would be happy to play the character created by Mars Ravelo if it will be given to him.
"May mga nakikita akong online voting, ang mga supporter they are really excited to the point na gagawa sila ng kani-kanilang voting. So siyempre nakikita ko rin yung efforts nila and I'm sure excited na din sila na makita ako back on TV. So maraming salamat sinusuportahan nila ako doon," Lim said.
"Siyempre ako why not, hindi ba? Isang dream role yan para sa kahit sinong aktor. ... Kung totoo man, kung mangyari man I will be forever grateful. That will be an achievement kung mangyari man," he added.
Lim shared that he already watched the 1986 movie of "Captain Barbell" played by Edu Manzano and now Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista as Tenteng, Captain Barbell's alter ego.
Early this year, actor Coco Martin denied that he was offered to do "Captain Barbell."
ABS-CBN won the rights to "Captain Barbell" and 12 other titles or characters created by Ravelo including "Dyesebel" in a deal described by the late novelist's son, Rex, as "the best option" for the comics novelist.
