MANILA – It took PBA superstar James Yap only three months to woo Kris Aquino before they decided to get married, the host-actress revealed on TV.
Aquino brought up the topic on Wednesday’s episode of “Kris TV” after she asked her male guests how long they courted their girlfriends.
According to the TV host, she and Yap were immediately drawn to each other.
“Alam mo parang nagkagustuhan na lang kami. After three months, gusto na namin ang isa’t isa," she told her co-host and good friend Vice Ganda.
"I met him tapos I was dating other people tapos parang nagkagustuhan na kami. Tapos parang three months after meeting him, live-in na kami. Tapos kinasal na kami,” she continued.
Aquino and Yap were married in civil rites in July 2005. Their marriage was declared null in February 2012, following allegations of infidelity on Yap's part.
In early March, the two finally reconciled and settled in court a visitation schedule for their son James "Bimby" Yap Jr., who is under the custody of Aquino.
The agreement followed a tumultuous three years for the former couple, who faced each other in court several times over allegations that Yap "made amorous advances" on Aquino in front of their son, which he denied.
While the two are now back in good terms, both have maintained that they have already moved on with their respective lives and that their common goal is to be good parents to Bimby, who is now 7.
Meanwhile, Aquino told Vice Ganda and her other guests the one quality that she likes in men.
“Gusto ko talaga 'yung kinakausap ako. Ayaw ko 'yung hindi ako kinakausap,” she said.
Aquino was last romantically linked to Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista although the courtship was only short-lived.
Since then, the TV said she has been entertaining a new suitor but had refused to reveal his identify.
