MANILA - Maegan Aguilar, the estranged daughter of Freddie Aguilar, did not mince words in criticizing the 17-year-old wife of the OPM icon, after initially voicing out her support for his father's controversial marriage last year.
In a live interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" on Wednesday, Maegan alleged that since her father married his then-girlfriend in Islamic rites last November, Aguilar's attitude towards her and her own family gradually worsened.
Maegan earlier accused Freddie's wife of "poisoning his mind" so she would have control of the music legend's money.
"Mula noong naging asawa siya, gradually pumapangit 'yung mga pagpapatakbo sa bahay," Meagan said. "'Yung basics na, kung katulad dati, welcome sa kwarto ni tatay pag wala siya doon -- we can watch TV there, we can lie on his bed, we can relax, 'yung parang what's his is ours -- mula noong dumating 'yan, naka-lock na 'yung kwarto ng tatay ko. Nagka-double lock na. Bawal na lahat!"
Maegan's adverse reaction to the relationship came after an argument with her father, which she alleged ended with her and her two children getting thrown out of their home in Quezon City last May 12.
Asked if she is angry at her father's wife, Maegan answered: "Galit ako sa kanilang dalawa. Hindi lang sa asawa ni tatay, pero mas lalo kay tatay, kasi anak niya ako. Apo niya 'yung mga anak ko. Bakit niya akong tinatratong outsider ng sarili kong bahay? Kasi kung bahay niya 'yon, bahay ko 'yon, 'di ba?"
'I don't need her in my life!'
Aguilar first admitted his relationship with teen girl from Oriental Mindoro last October, and married her a month later after converting to Islam.
The two met during an election campaign concert where Aguilar performed. At the time the music legend announced their relationship, they were already a couple for five months.
While at first she supported the relationship because it made her father happy, Maegan admitted she never made an effort to befriend the teenager.
"Why? I don't need her in my life! I don't care," she said. "As long as she made my father happy, I did not care anymore. I set boundaries. Kasi kung ako ang tatanunin, ayoko sa kanya. Bakit ko siya gugustuhin? Taga-bundok siyang biglang nag-appear sa bahay ko. Bigla nalang may asungot doon na, 'Sino 'to?'"
Maegan said she never had the chance to either discuss or settle her differences with her father, whether it concerned their relationship or his new wife. She cited this as another reason why she is angry at Freddie.
"He did not even tell us that he was going to get married. Nakita na lang namin sa 'TV Patrol,' kinasal na siya," she said. "Para kaming mga... Others ba kami? Bakit hindi mo sa amin sinabi na iyon ang mangyayari? Wala kaming chance to say anything, to disagree or agree. There's no chance. Because when he does something, we just have to swallow it and take it."
