MANILA - Brazilian-Japanese model Daniel Matsunaga got a royal treatment on his first day in the "Pinoy Big Brother" house, and even got a kiss on the lips from one of the female housemates.
Daniel, who was introduced last Saturday as a celebrity housemate of "Pinoy Big Brother: All In," was tasked to pretend to be sleeping in the pool area of the house until he gets a "royal" welcome from the remaining 17 housemates.
As seen in the reality show's telecast on Monday, the visibly starstruck housemates figure out that in order to wake up Daniel, one of them must kiss him on the lips, drawing inspiration from the fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty."
Twenty-one-year-old Aina Solano, who is dubbed the "Dancing Bombshell of Boracay," is requested by the housemates to kiss Daniel. At first she gives him a peck on his cheek, but kisses him on the lips when he does not move an inch.
The kiss, however, does not awaken Daniel.
The housemates decide to go into the pool and perform a ritual of sorts to welcome the crown-sporting Daniel. This prompts the sounding of trumpets with Daniel finally waking up.
Later in the episode, Daniel is made to converse with a number of housemates one by one along a "magic hallway." He also bonds with them in the pool and joins in doing household chores.
As the scenes aired Monday night, "Pinoy Big Brother" dominated conversations on social media, with the episode's official hashtag, "#PBBHelloDM," ranking No. 1 locally and worldwide in trending topics on Twitter.
Other terms related to the episode that became trending topics were "#BABAMON," in reference to Daniel's difficulty pronouncing "babangon"; "Daniel Otsunaga," Loisa Andalio's mistaken pronunciation of Daniel's surname; "Magic Hallway;" and "Sleeping Prinsipe."
"Pinoy Big Brother: All In" airs weeknights on Primetime Bida, and on Saturdays and Sundays as part of ABS-CBN's Yes! Weekend line-up. Afternoon updates are also aired via "Uber" on weekdays.
