MANILA, Philippines - Matriarch Caridad Teshiba-Tulfo said she is saddened by the conflict between her sons and celebrity couple Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago.

Last week, Teshiba-Tulfo was honored at the 32nd Huwarang Ina Awards.

In her acceptance speech, she said she was happy to receive the award but her joy was marred by the continuing conflict which started at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) between Mon Tulfo and the Santiagos.

The issue blew up when Mon's brothers Erwin, Ben and Raffy spoke against the couple on their television show "T3."

The controversial tussle between the Tulfo siblings and Claudine and Raymart has become a legal battle, with both parties filing cases against each other.

The video of the incident became viral online, and has been dubbed the "Thrilla in NAIA" by the media.

"Natutuwa kasi bakit ako pa ang nabigyan ng award na ito, nalulungkot kasi sa nangyayari sa mga anak ko," she said.

She also said she was ashamed of what happened.

"Nahihiya ako sa nangyari," she told Showbiz Inside Report in an interview.

However, despite the continuing conflict between Claudine and Raymart and her sons Mon, Erwin, Raffy and Ben, Teshiba-Tulfo said she believes she raised her children right.

"Every week, Saturday, for one or two hours, tatawagin ko sila para sabihan ng tamang ugali. Halimbawa, huwag mang-api ng mahihirap, rumespeto sa matatanda," she said. "Lahat tayo, anak ng Panginoon."

Teshiba-Tulfo is a mestiza Japanese. Her father was a Japanese businessman. She is now 87 years old.

She has 10 children with her husband, Col. Ramon Tulfo Sr.
