Xyriel Manabat plays 'Momay'
MANILA, Philippines - Child star Xyriel Manabat, who rose to fame after portraying the young Agua and Bendita, top-bills ABS-CBN’s upcoming TV show called "Momay," which will premiere on May 24.
“Momay” tells the story of a little kid who dies in an accident. But with a pinch of mystery, her friendly spirit has been allowed to stay on earth to help her family.
The TV project is Manabat’s much-awaited primetime comeback.
“Si Xyriel po, 2 years old pa lang nakitaan ko na ng potential. Kasi madalas ginagaya niya ‘yong mga commercials sa TV atsaka pati ‘yong mga pag-arte ginagaya n’ya rin po,” said Manabat’s mom, Diane.
The child star joined "Star Circle Quest Kiddie Idol" last year. In the talent competition, she placed third.
Since then, she took on minor roles on various TV shows.
She portrayed the young "Rubi" in a hit TV series with the same name. She also gave life to the young Marcela on "I Love Betty La Fea."
She also appeared in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and "Dahil May Isang Ikaw."
Currently, she is part of "Your Song Presents: Gimik 2010" where she plays Gracy, the daughter of Melanie (Mylene Dizon) and Brian (Bojo Molina).
