Sarah Geronimo with Coco Martin in 'Maybe This Time'
MANILA – Coming off the massive success of her romantic-comedy trilogy with John Lloyd Cruz, Sarah Geronimo is hoping that her first big screen team-up with Coco Martin will also do well in the box office.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on the sidelines of last week's press conference for “Maybe This Time,” Geronimo admitted that she is nervous that their film will be competing against Hollywood summer blockbusters.
Her movie hits theaters nationwide on May 28, which is also the opening day of Disney's "Maleficent," starring Angelina Jolie.
Other major Hollywood flicks that were released ahead include "Godzilla," which is currently showing, and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which opens on May 21.
“Honestly, nandoon ang pressure na sana makahabol man lang, kahit hindi makatapat. Mahirap. Ang dami pang makakasabay na malalaking Hollywood movies,” Geronimo said.
Geronimo added that she and Martin did their best in giving life their characters Stephanie and Anton.
“Sana may impact sa mga tao kasi ako. Nung pinanood ko [nanibago ako]. Sana magustuhan ng tao,” she said.
During the press conference, Martin praised for Geronimo, noting that the actress has matured as an actress.
Asked to comment on Martin’s statement, the 25-year-old singer-actress said: “Blessed na na-appreciate tayo ng mga tao sa mga pakilig natin. This time sana ma-appreciate yung pagiging aktres naman.”
Asked why she wants to be recognized as an actress, Geronimi simply said, “Kasi tumatanda na po ako. Saka ang laki ng tiwala ng binibigay sa atin ng Star Cinema.”
Directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng, “Maybe This Time” is a co-production of Star Cinema and Viva Films. It also features Dennis Padilla, Buboy Garovillo, Sharmaine Buencamino, Tony Mabesa, Ogie Diaz, Marlann Flores, Zeppi Borromeo, Alex Castro, Minnie Aguilar, Kathleen Hermosa, Garlic Garcia, Cecil Paz and Devon Seron.
