Diana Zubiri marks 10 years since flyover pictorial
MANILA, Philippines -- Ten years since her infamous "bikini photo shoot" along the EDSA-Shaw Boulevard flyover in Mandaluyong City, actress Diana Zubiri revealed her motivations in doing the shoot that catapulted her to showbiz stardom.

Zubiri, who was 18 years old at the time, said she is proud of the controversial pictorial for men's magazine FHM despite the criticisms she received for the daring stunt.
Parang 10 years ago na 'yan eh. Nare-remember ko that was 2002, ngayon 2012 na. So ngayon 'pag nare-remember ko, 'Ay, nakaka-miss.' Hindi naman 'yung demanda 'yung na-miss ko ah," she said in an interview with "Bandila" anchor Boy Abunda on Wednesday.
On what motivated her to wear a two-piece swimsuit along a busy road, Zubiri said she simply wanted to buy a new cellular phone that had camera features -- then a highly prized gadget.
Sige!' Eh bata pa lang ako noon. Of course I got the cellphone. Ang babaw po 'di ba?" she said.
Zubiri, who has gone on break from showbiz to pursue her studies, is currently enrolled in a theater arts program in an exclusive-for-girls college in Quezon City.
While Zubiri continues to accept acting projects while studying, she said sexy roles will have to wait.
“As of now, hindi pa [ako magpapa-sexy], kasi nasa patakaran po, nasa rules ng school, na huwag muna. At least tapusin ko po muna po. Two years na lang matatapos na," she said in a previous interview.
Noting that she wasn’t able attend her formal high school graduation march, Zubiri told Abunda that finishing her degree has become her priority.
As she pursues her college education, the actress, who has been receiving accolades for her acting in the indie film "Bahay Bata," mentioned Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago as among the personalities who fascinate her.
