MANILA, Philippines – Veteran actress Jacklyn Jose has broken her silence over the report that young actor Albie Casiño allegedly slapped and even called her daughter Andi Eigenmann a "cheater."

In an official statement that Jose sent to “Showbiz News Ngayon” on Tuesday, the actress came to the defense of her daughter, saying she knows Eigenmann best.

“Andi is not a cheater. What Albie Casiño claims in his Formspring account is not true. As her mother, I know Andi best. She is a loving daughter, a professional actress and a decent human being,” she said.

“As as family, we value privacy. We try to keep our personal life private, and out of the news. That’s how I’ve conducted myself throughout my career. Same with Andi,” Jose added.

She said she decided to say her piece because it’s a no easy task to see her daughter in pain.

“I commend Andi for handling this personal crisis with decency and respect. Pinagdadasal ko na matapos ito. I understand that there are on-going efforts to make that happen. We will give that due course. Thank you for supporting Andi,” she said.

Last Sunday, “The Buzz” reported that a former boyfriend of Eigenmann allegedly accused her of cheating on him.

On social networking website Formspring, Casiño was asked by a fan if he was the one who laid a hand on Eigenmann.

This, after Eigenmann’s friend, Saab Magalona, tweeted that “somebody” slapped the lead star of the now-defunct show “Agua Bendita.”

According to “The Buzz,” Casiño vehemently denied hitting the actress.

He reportedly wrote on Formspring: “So much bu-----t. I never hit her. Maybe one of her many boys did. Andi's a cheater kasi she has maybe 10 guys.”

“The Buzz” clarified though that it has not been verified if Casiño is the one using the Formspring account.

Eigenmann and Casiño went steady for years, even before they entered show business.
