Deniece sticking to story, lawyer says
MANILA – Deniece Cornejo is sticking to her allegations against actor Vhong Navarro, lawyer Ferdinand Topacio said on Friday.
Asked on "Bandila" whether Cornejo will turn her story around, Topacio said, "At this point, we are sticking to our theory. I don’t think so po."
Topacio also said Cornejo is doing well in detention under the circumstances.
"Nakita ko naman po she’s convinced of her innocence, at she’s always in high spirits. She’s still very pretty," he said.
He also said Cornejo does not receive any VIP treatment in detention.
The Department of Justice earlier junked the rape case filed by Cornejo against Navarro.
The hearing on Friday on the illegal detention case filed by Navarro against Cornejo, Cedric Lee, and Zimmer Raz at the Taguig Regional Trial Court took 7 hours.
It was highlighted by a confrontation between Navarro’s legal counsel Atty. Alma Mallonga and Cornejo’s grandmother, Florencia.
According to the elder Cornejo, she was confronted by Mallonga because of the T-shirt she was wearing that said "Justice for Deniece, Jail the Rapist"
Lola Florencia also claimed that Mallonga pushed her.
But Mallonga denied the accusation, saying witnesses saw what really took place.
Florencia and lawyer Atty. Axel Gonzales went to the police to file a blotter report against Mallonga.
They are also contemplating on filing a complaint before the Integrated Bar of the Philippines for misbehavior against Mallonga.
