MANILA, Philippines -- Actor Gerald Anderson has revealed the real status of his relationship with rumored girlfriend Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo.

Anderson, who has been vocal of his admiration for Geronimo, said that while he "cherishes" shared moments with the young singer, they are not yet an official couple.

"Ako po magsasabi sa inyo nang deretso -- hindi po talaga kami. And as much as gusto ko sabihin 'yun -- na kami -- hindi. Kung maging friends lang kami, o maging kami, either way I'm a very lucky guy," Anderson on Tuesday said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

"'Yung lang muna iisipin ko. Talagang chine-cherish ko 'to, 'yung moments na paminsan-minsan nakakasama ko siya, sobra akong thankful for that," he added.

'Focused' on Sarah

Although quite the heartthrob himself, and a bachelor at that, Anderson said that as far as matters of love are concerned, he is "focused" on Geronimo.

"Sa buhay ko, sa personal life ko, syempre nag-fo-focus lang ako kay Sarah. Ayokong sirain, gusto ko lang damdamin 'yung feeling," he said.

While they have gone past the "getting-to-know" stage, Anderson admitted he has no "right" to prevent Geronimo from seeing other men, saying there is no pressure for them to get into a relationship anytime soon.

"Wala akong karapatan pigilan siya kung may gusto siyang i-date and vice versa. Sa ngayon, I'm single and Sarah is single, and we're just happy kung anong relationship namin ngayon as friends," he said.

"But like I said before, no pressure. Si Sarah, marami pa siyang goals sa buhay niya, marami pa siyang gustong gawin. So para sakin, I'll try my best para suportahan siya," he added.

Sarah's family

Aside from being supportive of Geronimo's career, Anderson has also become close to the popstar's family.

On Geronimo's sharing in a previous interview that Anderson is the first man to introduce himself to her parents, the "Budoy" star said he is surprised the gesture has become an exception, rather than a norm.

"Nakakagulat 'yan eh, kasi una dapat 'yun 'yung tamang paraan. Sobra po ang respeto ko talaga sa pamilya niya, sa nanay niya, sa tatay niya, sa buong  pamilya niya, at kahit paano naging part naman [ako noon]," Anderson said.

"Kaya sobrang thankful ako for everything, na nakilala ko siya, na nakakapagbigay naman ako ng kahit kaunting inspirasyon sa kanya," he added.

Anderson, who has co-starred with Geronimo in two films, is set to return to the big screen via the 20th anniversary offering of ABS-CBN's talent management firm Star Magic. In the all-star movie, Anderson will be paired with former girlfriend actress Kim Chiu. The young actor is also gearing up for his indie film debut via "El Brujo," which is directed by Tikoy Aguiluz.
