K-pop star's PH return tops worldwide trends
MANILA - "Pambansang krung-krung"-turned-Korean superstar Sandara Park sat down for a live interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" on Wednesday, three nights before the highly anticipated concert of her group, 2NE1, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Park, who rose to fame in 2004 as a runner-up of ABS-CBN's "Star Circle Quest," wore a black dress and an oversized hat during the interview by co-hosts Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda.

"Na-miss ko po kayo!" the 29-year-old performer told the co-hosts.
During the K-pop star's stint in "Star Circle Quest," Abunda was one of the mentor-judges who auditioned the then-19-year-old Park, along with director Lauren Dyogi and veteran actress Gloria Diaz.
According to Abunda, Park had requested that she be interviewed in Tagalog on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight." Throughout the 9-minute interview, the soft-spoken Park answered questions fluently in the language.
Park discussed the rigorous training she underwent to become a K-pop star, and later as one of the four members of 2NE1. Those two years of hard work without pay, Park said, have thankfully paid off.
Now, she is known worldwide as a K-pop superstar, and gets to travel for shows overseas.
But Park said she has not forgotten her roots in the Philippines, where she first became a TV darling. In fact, Dara, as she is known in Korea, remains in constant communication with her Filipino friends and even regularly watches movies produced here.
As Park's interview aired on Wednesday night, several terms related to the performer became local and worldwide trends on Twitter, including "#WelcomeHomeDara." In the Philippines, the hashtag zoomed up as the No. 1 trend on the micro-blogging site.
Other trending terms related to the live interview were "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," "#DaraOnAATonight," and "A&A Tonight."
Before 2NE1's concert on Saturday, Park will also make a guest appearance on ABS-CBN's "Pinoy Big Brother: All In" on Thursday, during its afternoon and primetime telecast.
