MANILA – Korean pop star Sandara Park is back in the Philippines.
Park arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 onboard Asiana Airlines at around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The other members of her group 2NE1 are expected to arrive Friday morning for a concert and television guesting.
Park, in her conversation with Immigration officers, mentioned that she is glad to be back in the Philippines.
Hundreds of fans staked outside the airport terminal and waited for the convoy of vehicles to pass by their area just to catch a glimpse of the former Kapamilya star.
On Tuesday, ABS-CBN and "Pinoy Big Brother: All In" announced that Park will guest on the reality show's afternoon edition, "Uber," and its primetime telecast on Thursday.
Shortly after the announcement was made, "Si Sandara Park" quickly became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter, with fans of the 29-year-old performer expressing excitement with her guest appearance on "Pinoy Big Brother."
Aside from Park, the reality show's official hashtag for the day for its afternoon telecast, "#uberNOBELA," once again topped Philippine and global trends on the micro-blogging site.
Dubbed the Philippines' "pambansang krungkrung," Park rose to fame in 2004, when she finished runner-up in the ABS-CBN talent search "Star Circle Quest."
After a string of film and TV projects, Park, however, decided to leave for Korea to pursue a showbiz career there. In 2009, she took on the name "Dara" as a member of 2NE1. – with reports from Raoul Esperas
