MANILA – “Hindi madali maging single mom.”
These were the words of Sunshine Cruz when asked during her live “Buzz ng Bayan” guesting on Mother’s Day how she’s coping with her separation from husband Cesar Montano.
Cruz, however, takes comfort knowing that her children appreciate all the things she’s doing for them since she and Montano decided to live in separate houses.
“Ang sarap ng feeling na kahit maliit na bagay na ginagawa mo para sa mga anak mo, naa-appreciate nila. Sa ngayon talagang nagbabawi ako kasi there was a time na dire-diretso yung work. But they understand. Sabi ko nga sa kanila, kapag may trabaho ang mommy, you should be thankful kasi ito yung nagbibigay sa atin ng food sa lamesa, ito yung nagbibigay sa atin ng mga damit at sapatos nab ago. They appreciate,” she said.
Cruz said she is fortunate that her children are very understanding of their situation and they always pray for her happiness. In fact, Cruz shared that her three daughters are urging her to go out on dates again.
Asked how she reacts to this, Cruz said: “Sinasabi ko, ‘Anak hindi pa ako annulled. Anak, kakalipat lang natin ng bagong lugar and ang daming adjustments na ginagawa.’ Nasa south na kami ngayon, pati sila nilipat ko ng ibang eskwela. Uunahin ko muna yung mga bagay na yun, trabaho, makaipon, mga bata bago muna ang sarili ko.”
Prodded if there are people expressing interest in her, Cruz simply said, “Hindi ko naman pinag-iintindi yung mga yun.”
“I need someone who will love not only me but also my three children. I need someone na may courage talaga sa papasukin niya dahil kapag nilagawan ako, aba ay package deal ako. Yun ang isa sa mga pinagdadasal natin, na in God’s time dadating iyan,” she continued.
The actress said she first wants to have a closure with Montano before entering into another relationship.
“Napakahirap pumasok sa isang relasyon na hindi pa nagsasara totally itong past ko. Gusto ko muna masara yan. Sa totoo lang ngayon kung meron mang manliligaw diyan, they will just take advantage of you knowing that you’re vulnerable ngayon,” she said.
After everything that has happened, Cruz said she is still praying that she and Montano would mend ties one day for the sake of their children.
“Hindi kami nag-uusap. Every night my kids and I pray na kung hindi man friends, maging civil kami kasi may tatlo kaming anak. I hope so,” she said.
