MANILA, Philippines – “American Idol” Top 3 finalist Jessica Sanchez is proud to be a Filipina, with the singer consistently exhibiting her love for the Philippines.
In her report during radio dzMM show “Rated Korina” on Friday, ABS-CBN North America correspondent Yong Chavez said Sanchez has repeatedly said in interviews that she is happy to have a Filipina as a mother.
“Actually, ilang beses na niyang in-acknowledge maging sa Twitter niya, sinabi niyang ‘I’m proud to be a Filipina.’ And even noong nag-usap kami noong na-interview ko siya, sinabi niyang proud siya at laging pinupuri ang nanay niya na Pilipina na kung hindi dahil doon ay hindi siya magkakaroon ng career dahil maraming na-sacrifice ang kanyang ina para magkaroon siya ng career,” Chavez said.
Pop singer Akon is excited to launch Sanchez’ career especially as the half-Filipina is the last woman standing on the 11th season of “American Idol,” according to Chavez.
Joining her in the Top 3 are Joshua Ledet and Philip Philips.
This weekend, the Top 3 contestants will visit their respective hometowns to celebrate. Sanchez, in particular, will be heading back to San Diego to spend time with family and fans.
