MANILA - Heart Evangelista was asked on Thursday for her reaction to the recent wedding of actor Jericho Rosales, who she referred to as her "one true love" in 2012, four years after their controversial separation.
Rosales married TV host-model Kim Jones in Boracay last May 1, after more than two years of being a couple.
Evangelista was asked about the wedding on the sidelines of the opening of her first solo art exhibit titled "I am Love Marie" at the Artist Space at the Ayala Museum in Makati.
"I didn't get to see [the wedding], but I saw a lot of posts on Instagram," Evangelista told ABS-CBN News. "They look so happy together and I'm so excited for them, kasi I'm sure magaganda 'yung mga anak nila."
The 29-year-old actress, who is now in a relationship with Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero, also denied speculation that a "sad" painting of hers she shared in a post on Instagram on the day of Rosales' wedding had anything to do with the occasion.
"Lagi nalang gano'n! Controversial na nga 'yung paintings ko, but thank you so much for that. Of course not, kaloka naman," she said.
"I'm so happy with my life. I guess it's just that I post a lot of my artworks on my Instagram, so binigyan nila ng meaning. But I'm not really... No. But that's life. We all move on. And we're all happy, and we should all just be happy for each other."
In a May 2013 interview, Evangelista revealed that the reason behind her breakup with Rosales was her parents, who supposedly made her believe that the actor cheated on her with his TV co-star at the time, Malaysian actress Carmen Soo.
Evangelista is currently estranged from her parents due to their disapproval of her relationship with Escudero, who they publicly criticized and called on to separate from the actress in 2013.
Despite the controversy, Evangelista and Escudero have been vocal of their feelings for each other, and have even openly discussed the possibility of being wed in 2015.
But Evangelista clarified that Escudero has yet to propose marriage.
"Wala pa. We're not yet engaged. But we do talk about it often," she said. "And we can't also just get married. I'm also a person who likes to plan my life. So iyon, we're there but wala pang engagement."
Asked if she feels pressured to get married soon, after Rosales' own wedding, Evangelista said, "No naman. I'm just so happy that I found my lifetime partner."
"It doesn't really matter when you tie the knot, just as long as I know I won't have to box my pictures one day. Puwede na siya i-picture frame, ilagay sa wall, and hindi mo na kailangan i-take down, because this is sure. Just that idea, I'm happy."
