MANILA – Model Deniece Cornejo is set to be arraigned today for the crime of grave coercion filed against her by host-actor Vhong Navarro.
Cornejo left her detention cell at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Thursday morning for the Taguig Municipal Trial Court (MTC).
She arrived at around 7:55 a.m.
Security has been tightened compared to the first time Cornejo appeared in court, when media and curious onlookers crowded to get a look at her.
Steel railings and ropes have been placed in front of the City Hall of Justice's entrance.
Navarro also arrived at the Taguig MTC past 8 a.m. today.
Cornejo has been under custody since Monday, after she surrendered to Philippine National Police Chief Allan Purisima.
Aside from the grave coercion charge, the model is also facing the crime of serious illegal detention in connection with the mauling of Navarro at her condominium unit last January 22.
On Tuesday, Cornejo appeared before the Taguig RTC to determine where she will be detained. Judge Paz Esperanza Cortes, however, has yet to release a commitment order regarding the matter.
On the same day, the court also entered a not guilty plea for Cornejo to the charge of serious illegal detention. - from a report by Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News
