MANILA -- "The Legal Wife" continued to rule its time slot in nationwide ratings on Tuesday, according to Kantar Media, putting it on track to top its most recent average monthly viewership across the country.
The primetime series starring Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador garnered a nationwide rating of 28.1% on May 6, as measured by Kantar Media using a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes.
Its competing program aired on GMA-7, "Rhodora X," lagged behind by 16.5 percentage points on the same day, with only 11.6% in national TV ratings.
"The Legal Wife" also consistently topped ratings in its time slot in the first week of May, having registered 26.5% vs 12.4% on May 1, 26.5% vs 13.4% on May 2, and 25.3% vs 11% on May 5.
With its ratings performance so far this month, "The Legal Wife" is on its way to beating its highest average monthly rating of 23.5% set in April.
"The Legal Wife" debuted last January 27. It had its best rating of 29.2% on April 24.
The soaring viewership of "The Legal Wife" coincides with the unfolding drama involving Nicole (Salvador) and Monica (Locsin), who figure in a bitter spat when the latter discovers that her best friend is having an affair with her husband, Adrian (Jericho Rosales).
The story of infidelity has also become a hot topic on social media in recent weeks, with "The Legal Wife" consistently ranking among the top trending topics locally and worldwide on micro-blogging site Twitter.
"The Legal Wife," which is under the direction of Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao, airs weeknights after "Ikaw Lamang" during ABS-CBN's primetime block.
