MANILA, Philippines – What is the real score between Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson?

Rumors have it that during the recent Star Magic Tour in New York, Chiu and Anderson, her longest on-screen partner, were sweet to each other. This led to speculations that the 2 decided to rekindle their romance.

During her birthday press conference last May 2, Chiu finally addressed the issue. Chiu clarified that she and Anderson are just friends.

“Bakit naman may ganoon? Siyempre wala. Masaya naman kami ngayon,” she told “Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN).”

When asked about De La Salle University basketball player Simon Atkins, who is reportedly courting the young actress, she said: “Wala, ka-textmate ko lang. Textmates lang naman kami.”

In his separate interview with SNN, Anderson also denied the issue.

"Sa ngayon, wala po, pareho po kaming single and 'yon nage-enjoy po lang kami ngayon,” he said. "Masaya kaming pareho, single si Kim, single ako. We're just happy na 'yon for this year."

Anderson also divulged that he wanted to stay single, at least for now.

Sa dami naming pinagdaanan last year, ngayon talagang masasabi ko na masaya kami as friends," he said.

Although they never confirmed the real status of their relationship, rumors surfaced in June 2010 that Chiu and Anderson called it quits.

Rumors also have it that Anderson went steady with actress Bea Alonzo, but called their short relationship off after the actor received death threats from Chiu and Anderson's avid fans.

Nearly after 3 months, Chiu and Anderson reportedly reconciled and decided to keep their friendship.

B-day celebration

Meanwhile, Chiu said she is glad she got to celebrate her birthday in her new home.

Pumunta doon ‘yong ibang kaibigan ko and Star Magic family,” she said.

According to Chiu, there’s only one thing that she wants to receive. She, however, begged off not to disclose what it is.

Good health. Secret na lang kung ano man ‘yon,” Chiu, who turned 21 on April 19, said.

As part of her birthday celebration, Chiu threw a party for abandoned children in Pasig City on Tuesday.
