MANILA – A video of Lani Misalucha singing inside a music store at a mall in Metro Manila quickly circulated in various social media sites over the weekend.
The video, a copy of which was uploaded in the veteran singer’s Facebook account, shows Misalucha singing her hit “Bukas na lang Kita Mamahalin” in front of people who were apparently starstruck to see her.
Uploaded last Friday, the video now has over 4,400 “likes,” almost 2,000 “shares” with over 400 comments praising Misalucha’s heavenly voice.
In an interview with “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, Misalucha explained the story behind the video and how the staff of the store convinced her to sing.
And then pagkatapos nun, pinakanta talaga ako,” she said.
Saying she couldn’t turn down the request, the singer said, “Alangan namang hindi ako mag-give in? So pinakanta sa akin yung 'Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalailn.' Wala akong choice, pinatugtog na nila.”
Misalucha, who is dubbed as the Asia’s Nightingale, recently launched her album after a five-year break.
Answering intrigues that the reason she’s back in the country is because her contract in Las Vegas was not renewed, she said, “Hindi sa hindi na-renew. Hanggang dun lang talaga ;yung kontrata namin.”
Misalucha, however, said she is still trying to come up with new material.
“To work in a casino, hindi po biro especially nakikipagbunuan ka sa malalaking shows doon. Meron kaming binubuo sana pero it's not easy. It really has to be a very, very good show for you to compete with the rest,” she said.
