MANILA - "Pinoy Big Brother" co-host-turned-housemate Alex Gonzaga opened up about her love life and gave some advice to the younger housemates in the reality show's episode aired on Wednesday.
Alex, 26, shared that in her younger years, she dated two boys but quickly moved on, saying it's a tendency of teenagers to keep changing their minds even when it comes to relationships.
The girls discussed the topic in their room after the housemates' playful moment in the living room, when teens Loisa Andalio and Joshua Garcia were teased as a potential couple.
"Nakapag-date lang ako ng dalawa, ha," Alex told the younger girls, referring to her experience as a teenager. "Parang naisip ko, there's so much more. Totoo. Kaya talagang sinasabi ko sa mga ganyan, sa age niyo. Kayo, pag teenager pa, sobrang bilis magbago ng isip niyo."
"Kaya talagang walang point... For me, ha, talagang totoo 'yung sinasabi ng parents na bawal talaga mag-boyfriend pa ng mga 14, 15, 16. Kahit 18, minsan parang hindi pa gano'n ka-ano..."
In interviews before entering the "Pinoy Big Brother" house, Alex said she has decided not to go into a relationship for now as she wants to focus on her career.
Her last known relationship was with singer Kean Cipriano.
'Trust your parents'
Alex also imparted the advice of her parents when it comes to men, saying it is important to trust their judgment concerning a potential partner.
"Ang sabi rin ng daddy ko, pag ang lalaki, three days palang kayo nakakasama, sinabing, 'Mahal na mahal kita,' hindi totoo 'yon. Ang ang lalaki, pag totoong may gusto talaga sa inyo, hirap nilang sabihin talaga 'yung nararamdaman nila. Bakit? Kasi totoo. Mas masakit pag hindi mo tinanggap."
She added: "This is a very most important thing -- basta pag sinabi ng nanay niyong, 'Ayoko 'yan,' [huwag mo ituloy]."
Months leading up to the grand re-opening of "Pinoy Big Brother," Alex was already announced as one of its co-hosts and even made promotional appearances on ABS-CBN programs.
As "Kuya" noted in his first conversation with Alex in the confession room shown Sunday, she is the only co-host of this season who has yet to experience being a housemate.
Her sister and co-host Toni was a houseguest in the second celebrity edition in 2007. Bianca Gonzalez and John Prats were both housemates in the first celebrity edition held the previous year, while Robi Domingo was a teen housemate in 2008.
"Pinoy Big Brother: All In" airs weeknights on Primetime Bida on Saturdays and Sundays as part of ABS-CBN's Yes! Weekend line-up. Afternoon updates are also aired via "Uber" on weekdays.
