MANILA -- A film by Jun Lana that centers on an elderly gay man won top honors on Saturday at the 10th edition of the Golden Screen Awards for Film.

Presented by Entertainment Press Society, Inc. (EnPress), this year's Golden Screen Awards was held Saturday night at Teatrino in Greenhills, San Juan City.

"Bwakaw," which stars Eddie Garcia as a gay man who "came out" at age 70, led the Golden Screen winners with six trophies, including the top acting nod in its genre for the veteran actor, and the Best Story award for Lana.

The big-screen musical "I Do Bidoo Bidoo" trailed "Bwakaw" with four trophies, including Best Motion Picture in its genre's category, and Best Musical Score for Vincent de Jesus, for his work on the featured hits of APO Hiking Society.

Winning top honors for acting alongside Garcia were Aga Muhlach and Regine Velasquez, both for their roles in the romantic-comedy film "Of All The Things."

Tied with Garcia as best actor in the drama category is Alfred Vargas, for his role in "Supremo."

Gina Alajar, meanwhile, also scored a trophy as the lead actress in the film "Mater Dolorosa."

Recognized with the Lino Brocka Lifetime Achievement Award was Regal Enterainment matriarch Lily Monteverde.
