Karylle confident of Nat'l Artist for Dolphy
MANILA, Philippines – Actress-singer Karylle is confident King of Comedy Dolphy Quizon will be named a National Artist.
In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com, Karylle said that her mother Zsa Zsa Padilla’s long-time partner deserves the award but she’s not keeping her hopes up.
“Mahirap kasing mag-force ng isang bagay. We all know he deserves it,” Karylle said.
“So I’m sure darating din ‘yan, hopefully soon para masaya naman,” she added.
Karylle said that right now, she’s just happy that the veteran actor is doing better.
“Siyempre happy ako. I always pray for him pero ‘yon, hindi ko siya nakikita recently dahil sa busy sa show. Pero sana ay magtuloy tuloy na ‘yung good health niya,” she added.
Last Wednesday, Padilla said she was glad people are now rooting for Dolphy to be named as a National Artist.
In her official Twitter account, Padilla admitted that she has always wanted Dolphy to be given the highest recognition as a Filipino artist.
“I hope so, too. This has been our family's wish for him too, for many years now. But grateful he is still with us," Padilla tweeted.
Padilla and Karylle are part of ABS-CBN’s variety show “ASAP 2012.”
This coming June, Karylle will attend the 52nd Monte Carlo Film Festival. She has been nominated as Best Actress for her performance in the Asian television series “The Kitchen Musical.”
