MANILA, Philippines – With an array of portrayals that have garnered her awards as a comedienne and as a dramatic actress, Angelica Panganiban said she intends to continue "confusing" her audience as her career progresses.

“Alam niyo po mas gusto ko lang po ‘yung ganito, ‘yung nalilito lang po tayong lahat, para po ‘di magsawa sa’kin ‘yung mga tao, hanggang sa pag-tanda ako, litung-lito pa rin po sila,” she said during the press conference for her latest film “Every Breath U Take.”

Over the years, Panganiban has been recognized as a sexy star, a dramatic actress and a comedienne.

The year 2009 saw Panganiban recognized for her versatility when she was nominated for Best Drama Actress and Best Comedy Actress at the 24th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for TV.

In 2010, she was ranked the sixth sexiest woman in the country by men’s magazine FHM, and in 2011, was awarded for her comedic role in the film “Here Comes the Bride” at the 42nd Guillermo Box-Office Awards and the 8th ENPRESS Golden Screen Awards for Movies.

Panganiban returned to dramatic portrayals in horror film “Segunda Mano,” for which she was nominated as Movie Supporting Actress of the Year in the 28th Star Awards for Movies early this year.

“Gusto ko lang po ma-maintain ‘yon, and masarap po kasi mag-experiment ng mga bagay na pwede mong gawin, like pagpapatawa. Hindi ko naman po alam, hindi ko naman akalain na may mga tao palang maiintindihan ‘yung humor ko, so syempre thankful ako,” she said.

With a new TV drama series in the works, Panganiban said she feels pressured to double her effort in portraying “serious roles,” since she has become identified with her comedienne persona on “Banana Split.”

“Nakaka-pressure kasi pag magpa-iyak ako, matatawa nalang sila, so medyo dagdag effort po ‘yun para sa’kin, na seryosohin ako ng mga tao ‘pag may ginagawa akong seryoso,” she said.

Before she returns to TV acting, Panganiban is set to star in Star Cinema’s  “Every Breath U Take” alongside actor Piolo Pascual.

Directed by Mae Czarina Cruz, the film will hit theaters on May 16.
