'Thelma' wins at Mexico Int'l Film Fest

MANILA, Philippines - Indie film "Thelma" won the Bronze Palm Award for "demonstrating excellent and outstanding filmmaking" at the 2012 Mexico International Film Festival.

The film, which is based on the lives of Filipino runners, is one of the winners in the feature film category.

"Thelma" is directed by Paul Soriano and stars Maja Salvador, who is now busy taping for ABS-CBN's afternoon series "Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin."

It was shown in theaters nationwide in September 2011.

The film recently bagged the Digital Film of the Year award at the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
