MANILA – The younger brother of the late Kapamilya actor AJ Perez is not closing his doors on show business.
In an exclusive interview with the entertainment site push.com.ph, Gello Perez said he is still considering his options, although he admitted that he finds showbiz interesting.
"It's interesting. All the time, we visit [AJ] sa set don sa may Laguna sa taping niya, that's interesting to see the behind the scenes and it was interesting to see him act and it’s actually a good thing to try, it’s fun,” he said.
While he has yet to come up with a final plan, Gello said he wants to focus on his studies first.
"I don’t know yet about my plan in the future, but right now I’m just focusing on my studies sa Ateneo. I want to try different things but I don’t know if I can do it yet because I have school, but I’m willing to do different stuff and I think acting is a good thing to try," he said.
Gello said he wants to follow in the footsteps of AJ, who serves as his inspiration.
"What I always admired about him is hindi siya nahihiya, something na hopefully makamit ko rin, na he's not afraid to do things and kasi ako I hesitate on doing some stuff, I get nervous, but he said na ‘Just do it. Huwag kang mahiya.’ That’s something that I always keep in mind.”
“He did basketball, he did acting, at the same time school. I saw his determination and nakita ko sa kanya like he's kahit napapagod, nakikita ko ‘yung determination niya,” he said.
Three years since AJ passed away, Gello said he still misses bonding with his older brother.
“He never forgets every weekend na mag-movie kami as a family, that’s something that we shared kasi mahilig kami sa movies. Every weekend he always makes time na to go out and watch movie ayon, we enjoy each other's company,” he said.
AJ died in a highway accident in Tarlac April 2011. He had just come from a show in Dagupan then and was reportedly on his way back to Manila.
