MANILA – The lawyer of Vhong Navarro is wondering why no arrest warrants were issued for Bernice Lee and JP Calma, who are among the accused in the serious illegal detention case filed by the actor.

On Monday, the Taguig Regional Trial Court only issued arrest warrants for five people -- businessman Cedric Lee, model Deneice Cornejo, Jed Fernandez, Simeon Raz and Ferdinand Guerrero.

“We want to see first because I'm being very careful because this is before the court, this is sub-judice. We shouldn't talk about the merits of the case. But I think following the process, we have the right to ask certain questions because we know the case, we know the facts, we know the law,” Atty. Alma Mallonga said.

While she has yet to read the court's resolution, Mallonga feels their camp has “the right to ask questions and to avail of the remedies available to us.”

Although there are no warrants for the arrest of Bernice Lee and Calma for the serious illegal detention charge, the Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court issued arrest warrants for all seven accused in connection with the criminal charge of grave coercion.

Cornejo, Fernandez and Bernice Lee have since posted P12,000 bail for that case.
