MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American singer Thia Megia said it feels great to be back home in the Philippines following the summer tour of “American Idol” last year.
In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com, Megia said she is elated to return to the country because it is a chance for her to be with her family and Filipino supporters.
“I’m really happy to be back. It’s great to be reunited with my fans. I’m really happy to be here,” she said.
Megia was also delighted to be invited to perform on “ASAP 2012.” On Sunday, Megia performed a duet with singer Zsa Zsa Padilla.
“I’m really happy that they invited me on the show because I always watch this back home. I’m really excited to be on 'ASAP.' It’s an honor to be performing with Ms. Zsa Zsa,” she said.
Megia is currently in Manila for a concert as part of her Asian tour. She, however, regrets that she cannot stay longer in the country.
“It’s actually my second [stop]. Unfortunately I’ll be leaving tomorrow for Bali and then Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur and then I’ll go back home. I wish I could stay longer,” she said.
“It’s been such a short stay so I feel kinda bad that I don’t get to stay here longer but I’m hoping that I’ll be back here soon,” Megia added.
On Jessica Sanchez
Known to be a friend of current “American Idol” contestant Jessica Sanchez, Megia said she only wishes the best for the Filipino-Mexican-American singer.
“Just keep doing what you’re doing. You’re doing amazing so just keep going with what you’re after,” she said.
According to Megia, she was not really surprised when Sanchez nearly got booted off the competition because she was sure the judges would use the “save” on her.
“I kinda knew that they’re going to use the save on her obviously. It was the right decision,” she said.
Megia said she has been rooting for Sanchez since the start and she believes she has a good chance of winning this season.
