MANILA - Kris Aquino on Monday debuted her new, short hairstyle during the live telecast of her primetime talk show "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," hinting that the change was over a heartache.
The 43-year-old actress-host was all smiles as she was quizzed by co-host Boy Abunda about her pixie cut, which she said is "the shortest hair [she has had] since child birth."
When Abunda noted that her short hair is appropriate, considering the summer season, Aquino quipped, "Pag may pinagdadaanan ka, it's appropriate."
Earlier in the day, the "Sisterakas" star posted a similar message on Instagram by quoting French fashion designer Coco Chanel: "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life."
"I cut off more than a foot, so I'm super ready for my life change!" she said.
Asked by Abunda if she is going through something, Aquino answered, "Tapos na. [It's] time for a change."
Without mentioning anything specific, Abunda pressed Aquino to confirm whether it meant something is over, to which she replied: "Ayoko na ng heartache, 'yun lang."
"It's not a choice naman, Krissy," Abunda added. "It will happen if it's going to happen again, but [it's about] moving on and rising above heartaches."
A smiling Aquino then changed the topic, saying, "I was not prepared to talk about that. I was only prepared to talk about my hair!"
In the April 7 episode of "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," Aquino confirmed that she had been dating Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, after weeks of speculation about their relationship.
However, in the days following Aquino's televised admission, reports surfaced that Bautista had yet to separate from his long-time partner, Tates Gana, with whom he has children aged 18 and 10.
Neither Aquino nor Bautista has since spoken about their relationship, and whether there is truth to reports that the actor-politician was still romantically involved with another woman when he started dating the TV host.
