MANILA – For Robi Domingo, hosting the popular ABS-CBN reality show “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) feels like coming home.
In an interview with “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, Domingo said he can’t help but wax nostalgic when he asked the auditionees why they want to join PBB.
“I went to the last audition day pero prior to that, may mga taong pumila na 8 a.m. Tinanong ko sila ‘Bakit ka sumali?’ Sabi nila ‘PBB kasi.’ It became a really big brand na talagang sinusuportahan. [For me], it’s like I’m going back home,” he said.
After 10 seasons, Domingo said it is overwhelming to see that a lot of Filipinos still dream of becoming part of the show.
“Feeling ko it’s the magic of 'PBB.' No one knows. Kasi when you go inside the Big Brother house, wala ka namang kailangang ipakitang talent. You have to be yourself and you will be loved by all the people if pinakita mo kung sino ka talaga. Maganda talaga ang PBB,” he said.
The hit reality show, which is based on the Endemol-owned concept that premiered in Netherlands in 1999, has so far produced 10 "big winners" in the Philippines.
The upcoming season of PBB marks the 11th edition of the program since it premiered in August 2005. The last iteration of PBB, its fourth teen edition, ended in July 2012.
Asked to give a hint on why the upcoming season is called “PBB All In,” Domingo said, “Yung sinabi kasi ni direk Lauren (Dyogi), 'yung mga teens and adults sama-sama kaya feeling ko ‘All In.’”
Set to kick off on April 27, Domingo said he has no idea on the identity of this season's housemates.
“Wala akong idea talaga kasi kami talaga, sa Sunday na 'yung kick off pero hindi namin alam kung sino ang makakapasok. Kapag i-announce namin, [totoo din ang excitement]. Ako very, very looking forward ako sa lahat ng mangyayari this season,” he said.
Aside from Domingo, also hosting “PBB All In” are Toni Gonzaga, Bianca Gonzalez, John Prats and Slater Young -- all former housemates, except for Gonzaga.
