MANILA - "Nakakaloka siya."
These were the words of Ogie Alcasid after hearing young singer Morissette belt out "Narito Ako," a power ballad popularized by his wife Regine Velasquez.
"She's great. ...Nakakatindig balahibo," he told ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe, before adding that he and Velasquez consider Morissette as someone who can follow in their footsteps and keep OPM alive.
"Nakakatuwa kasi first love ko talaga ang Filipino music so whenever na binibigyang halaga ang Filipino music -- lalo na tulad nilang mga bata-- natutuwa ako."
Morissette, a former contestant of "The Voice of the Philippines," sang her version of "Narito Ako" during a press conference for her upcoming concert titled "Platinum" with former "Miss Saigon" cast member Tanya Manalang.
Alcasid, who will be a guest at the concert, was in attendance. "Hindi ko po talaga siya tinitingnan," Morissette admitted. "Parang ayaw kong makitang iyong mga reaction niya."
"Platinum" will be held on May 6 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila.
