Judy Ann Santos doesn't usually reply to so-called "bashers," but when one follower became critical of her after she posted a photo of her new luxury clutch bag, the actress felt the need to set things straight -- in the classiest way.
In her Instagram post over the weekend, Santos shared with her 2.3 million followers her enthusiasm over the bag from Yves Saint Laurent or YSL, a French luxury fashion house.
Apparently irked by Santos owning an expensive item, one follower commented: "How about helping all the poor people in your country?!"
The comment, one of nearly 300, caught the attention of Santos, who replied: "Hi! Hindi naman ako normally sasagot sa mga ganitong comments, pero hindi ko kasi ugaling i-promote kung sino at ano at saan kami nagbibigay ng tulong. 'Yung lang. God bless you."
Santos' reply appeared to humble the follower, who said sorry: "I apologize. I'm glad and happy to know. I've always liked you. God bless you, too."
Santos, dubbed the "Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera," has had non-stop projects since her first starring role in 1988, among them a "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episode in 2001 about Aeta groups. This spurred her founding of Touch-A-Heart Foundation in 2004, intended to address the agricultural and educational needs of an Aeta community in Bataan.
She is also known to have been involved with Elsie Gaches for patients of mental health, and Ploning Foundation, which she also founded, to benefit filmmakers and other industry workers.
