Singer Zia Quizon
MANILA, Philippines -- Singer Zia Quizon admitted that the death of her father, veteran comedian Dolphy, was a wake-up call for her to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
In an interview on the morning show "KrisTV" on Wednesday, Quizon also cited her mother Zsa Zsa Padilla's health scare last year contributed to her new attitude.
"Lifestyle change talaga. I guess dahil nagkasakit din ang mom ko and my mom was stressing din about life, work and things. So talagang I wanted it to be one less thing for them to worry about, 'yung health ko," Quizon told host Kris Aquino, who is a good friend of her mother.
"Kasi talagang they are really worrying na din at saka I was being very lonely. Loner talaga ako noon so talagang they are worried na din. So I thought for their benefit na din I should change my lifestyle," she explained.
Zia said her workout isn't limited to going to the gym.
"Anything na talagang interested ako. Kasi naggi-gym ako dati, wala talagang nagre-register. So 'yung mga dance, Zumba, Pilates, things like that 'yung mga ginagawa ko," she said.
Moving out from home
In the interview, the young singer also admitted that she will be moving out from their family's house soon.
"Not yet, but soon hopefully. Not that soon but I'm sure kukulitin ko lang siya (Padilla) there sa bahay most of the time," she said.
Asked how she convinced her mom about living independently, Quizon replied: "I guess in a way nag-mature talaga ako faster than maybe my other siblings. Kasi ako ang bunso, ako ang nasa bahay noong nagkasakit ang dad ko, and I had to be there for my mom din."
Dolphy died after a five-year battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in July last year.
