10th Golden Screen Film Awards nominees announced

'I Do Bidoo,' 'Bwakaw' lead nominees

MANILA -- The 10th Golden Screen Awards for Film is set to give recognition this month, with the big-screen musical "I Do Bidoo Bidoo" and the indie film "Bwakaw" leading this year's nominees with 15 and 12 nods, respectively.

The Entertainment Press Society, Inc. (EnPress) released Wednesday the list of nominees at the 2013 Golden Screen Awards, which will be held on April 27 at Teatrino Greenhills in San Juan City.

Clinching the most number of nominations is "I Do Bidoo Bidoo: Heto nAPO Sila!," a family movie musical that features the hits of the iconic trio APO Hiking Society.

Among others, the film will vie for the following awards:
 
Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy;

Best Direction, Best Original Screenplay and Best Story for Chris Martinez;

Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role-Musical or
Comedy for Eugene Domingo and Zsa Zsa Padilla; and,

Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role-Musical or Comedy for Sam Concepcion, Gary Valenciano and Ogie Alcasid.

"Bwakaw," which centers on the character of Eddie Garcia as an elderly gay man, meanwhile, will compete in several categories, including:

Motion Picture-Drama;
Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role-Drama;
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role-Drama, Musical or Comedy;
Best Direction; and,
Best Original Screenplay.

Earning six nominations is Star Cinema's "The Mistress," with its lead stars Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz getting nods for the awards Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role-Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role-Drama, respectively.

Veterans Hilda Koronel and Ronaldo Valdez, who also starred in "The Mistress," are also vying for the awards given to the best supporting actress and actor in a drama, musical or comedy film.

Several other Kapamilya stars also set to compete in this year's Golden Screen Awards, including those nominated for the Best Actress and Actor awards in the Drama and Musical/Comedy categories --
