MANILA - ABS-CBN got five recognitions at the New York Festivals World's Best TV and Films, including two medals for the documentary "Agosto Bente-Uno" and the investigative program "Failon Ngayon."

A special documentary about the assassination of Ninoy Aquino, "Agosto Beinte-Uno" won the silver world medal in the Graphic Design: Promotion/Open & ID category.
It also received a finalist certificate in the Biography/Profiles category.
"Failon Ngayon," meanwhile, got a bronze world medal in the Current Affairs category for its episode "Tagas ng Minahan," which focused on the environmental hazards caused by mining spills.
Finalist certificates were also awarded to "Matanglawin" in the Educational/Instructional category for its episode "Elephants," and to ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management for the plug "Sprout" in the Green Promotion category.
The Philippines got 11 other recognitions, including medals for GMA-7's "Tunay na Buhay," "Brigada," and "Reel Time."
Now on its 57th year, the New York Festivals World's Best TV & Films awarded some 400 medals and over 200 finalist certificates to entries from 50 countries.
