MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American contestant Cheesa Laureta thanked “TV Patrol” on her Twitter account.
“Thank you TV Patrol, Yong (Chavez of ABS-CBN North America New Bureau) and Kuya Jun for everything,” she tweeted on April 9, just in time for her first live performance on the US talent search “The Voice.”
On Wednesday (Thursday morning in Manila), Laureta was saved by mentor Cee Lo Green to advance to the next round as part of the Top 16.
She sang the Celine Dion version of “All By Myself” for her last-chance performance.
“When you get a song, you just have to think about the lyrics and get yourself attached to it, lyrically. Just feel it onstage and just lose yourself. When I'm onstage, everything's gone. It's just me, I'm naked, I'm gonna show you what I'm feeling,” she told ABS-CBN News after her performance on Wednesday.
On Twitter, she added, “God didn't leave me all by myself tonight and I am in awe of His love and grace.”
According to Laureta, her inspiration right now is her family, particularly her brother Troy of the band A2C, who also auditioned for “The Voice.”
“For a long time, my brother has been my crutch. He's always there to support and guide me. This is the first time I'm doing this by myself. He's, like, 'I'm kinda glad that you're doing this by yourself because you're learning how to just be you and just trust yourself a little bit more,’” she said. – With report from Yong Chavez, ABS-CBN North America New Bureau, in Los Angeles, California
