MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN on Monday denied a report from entertainment website pep.ph that director Bobet Vidanes has resigned from the noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
Last Thursday, the website said Vidanes has resigned from the show, citing an unnamed source.
“Ito ay dahil sa hindi raw nila pagkakasundo ni Vice Ganda at ilan pang hosts ng nasabing noontime show ng ABS-CBN. Hindi na raw sinusunod ni Vice si Direk Bobet at ilang araw na rin hindi napapanood ang comedian sa show,” the pep.ph report said.
Several entertainment bloggers picked up the report.
But in a statement issued on Monday, ABS-CBN said the absence of Vidanes and Vice Ganda from the show is due to personal and professional commitments.
Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN’s corporate communications, said in the statement: “It’s not true that Direk Bobet Vidanes resigned from ‘It’s Showtime’ because of Vice Ganda. Both of them were recently not in the show since Direk Bobet went on a Holy Week break, while Vice Ganda fulfilled a series of engagements in the Middle East.”
Based on his tweets, Vice Ganda had a concert in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. He also went to Dubai, where he met some Filipinos working at the restaurant P.F. Chang’s.
Vice Ganda also spent Easter in Puerto Galera, based on his tweet on Sunday.
