MANILA – Julia Barretto dismissed rumors romantically linking her to Sam Concepcion, insisting that she has always considered her “Mirabella” co-star as a "big brother."
“Sam is like my big brother because nakatrabaho ko siya when I was nine years old. So growing up, I’ve always seen him as my kuya,” she told ABS-CBN News on Saturday.
Barretto stressed she has been vocal in all of her past interviews that she is not yet ready for any kind of relationship because she is focused on her career. “Kilala niyo naman ako. Career ang focus ko right now,” she said.
Concepcion is the rumored boyfriend of Jasmine Curtis Smith.
Last week, Concepcion’s name made headlines when Curtis-Smith’s sister, actress Anne Curtis, allegedly confronted the singer-actor at the birthday party of Vice Ganda.
The report, which was published Tuesday evening on Philippine Entertainment Portal, cited a "source" who "got the details from a party guest at the celebration."
PEP quoted the source as saying that Curtis "drank at the party," and that the actress told Concepcion: "Why are you here? Who invited you? You are not classy enough to be here!"
Curtis, the report added, then allegedly asked Concepcion: "Ba't mo niloloko ang kapatid ko?"
The 29-year-old actress immediately denied this report via a post in Instagram account saying she did not "say any of those words written in the article."
When asked if Barretto personally knows Curtis-Smith, the “Mirabella” actress said: “I’ve worked with Jas before for a cover. It’s showbiz so it’s expected. Pero it’s funny kasi kuya talaga ang tingin ko kay Sam.”
