King of Comedy Dolphy said he is happy for Alma Moreno, the mother of his child, Vandolph, and her second husband, Marawi City Mayor Fahad "Pre" Salic.
Dolphy said it was Vandolph who told him about the good news. Moreno and Salic tied the knot last March 21 at the Vistamar Resort in Cebu City in the presence of her kids and relatives.
"Congratulations! I'm very happy for her. Basta kinakailangan ay magsaya siya hangga't ika nga ay may anghang pa tayo pare-pareho," Dolphy said.
Moreno and Dolphy's love story began in 1981 when they both starred on "Titser's Pet. " Their relationship became serious when Dolphy and Moreno moved in together in 1982. After almost a decade, however, Dolphy and Moreno decided to part ways.
In Dolphy's book "Hindi Ko Ito Narating Ng Mag-Isa," the comedian shared that the reason he decided to leave Moreno was because of the actress' lifestyle.
The government has recently recognized Dolphy for his contributions in show business in the span of 65 years. He was named outstanding artist with golden years of service in multi-media and popular art.
The award was given by the National Commission for Culture and Arts and Philippine International Theater Institute in Malacañang.
The king of comedy said he is overwhelmed by the recognition and happy because his works and achievements over the years have finally been appreciated.
It would be recalled that it was in year 2007 when then Senate president Manuel Villar Jr recommended that Dolphy be declared as a national artist for his unquestionable contributions in showbiz.
