MANILA - Jasmine Curtis-Smith has come to the defense of her sister, Anne Curtis, amid the controversy surrounding the "Dyesebel" star's reported confrontation with the younger actress' rumored boyfriend, Sam Concepcion.
The 19-year-old Jasmine took to Twitter on Thursday night to express her hurt over comments made about the health of her sister, who was brought to a hospital after being attacked by box jellyfish while she was taping for "Dyesebel" on Wednesday.
"Please pray for my sister's well being. She was stung by a box jellyfish, considered to be one of the deadliest," Jasmine said in a tweet seen by some 1.5 million followers.
"It hurts me to see some saying that she deserved this when no one deserves to be in risk in terms of health," she added. "How could anyone wish this upon another?"
Anne is currently confined at St. Luke's Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City, according to "Dyesebel" producer Dreamscape Entertainment Television in its statement.
In a separate statement, Dr. Wency Kiat, who is attending to Anne, said the 29-year-old actress is "doing fine" but should continue taking medications for pain due to the jellyfish sting.
News of the jellyfish attack came a day after a report detailing Anne's alleged confrontation with Concepcion surfaced online.
According to the report, which cited unnamed sources, Anne allegedly confronted the 21-year-old singer-actor at a party over Jasmine, who only recently went public with her relationship with Concepcion.
The report quoted Anne as telling Concepcion: "Bakit mo niloloko ang kapatid ko?" and "You are not classy enough to be here!"
Within hours after the report was published, Anne clarified on her Instagram page that she "did not say any of those words written in the article."
"Of course I spoke to Sam that night and as always, I told him to take care of my baby sister like any ate would do," Curtis said.
Concepcion has yet to speak about the incident.
