MANILA – Television host Kris Aquino took to the social networking site to share the good news that she and ex-husband James Yap are slowly rebuilding their friendship again for the sake of their son, Bimby.

In a post on her Instagram account on Tuesday, Aquino said: “Being friends with your ex shows you two are mature enough to get over the fact that you weren’t meant to be together.”

She then shared a text message she got from Yap on Monday.

“Good Morning. Life continues to pleasantly surprise me. James asked me yesterday what my plans for Bimb's 7th birthday are & he offered to split the cost w/ me... I replied w/ the date & details & the cost. He replied by saying nalaglag sya sa upuan nya pero GO. I replied w/ hehehe okay lang whatever lang he was comfortable with. He said, okay lang para kay Bimb,” she said.

Aquino said she even told Yap to invite his girlfriend to the birthday party of Bimby, who will be turning 7 on April 19.

The television host also narrated how she and Yap managed to divide their time watching over Bimby when the boy shot an endorsement last week.

“I stayed until 6:30 PM & it was his turn until the shoot ended at 9 PM... We're not yet there but we are almost friends again. I'm sharing this because it may help those in a similar situation,” she said.

According to Aquino, their renewed friendship started when Yap acknowledged last February that she is doing an excellent job as Bimby’s mom.

“Maybe sometimes when we love our kids, we learn to forgive the failure of the marriage & we focus on succeeding as parents & being happy that we've all moved forward,” she said.

Early this month, Aquino announced that she finally reached an agreement with her former husband on the visitation and custody of their son after a "four-year journey that needed mutual healing, acceptance, and maturity."

The agreement follows a tumultuous years for the former couple, who faced each other in court several times over allegations that Yap "made amorous advances" on Aquino in front of their son, which he denied.

The two were married in civil rites in July 2005. Their marriage was declared null and void in February 2012.
