MANILA, Philippines – The arranger and associate musical director of the hit American talent show “American Idol” has invited Tony Award winner Lea Salonga to visit and guest on the show soon.
Michel Orland, in his official Twitter account, sent a message to Salonga on March 29 asking the international singer to drop by the show.
“@MsLeaSalonga When are you coming to #IDOL to come visit? You must,” he said.
This was in reply to Salonga’s tweet appreciating the performance of one of the remaining “Idol” contestants.
Orland said he would love if Salonga would become one of the contestants’ mentor in the coming weeks.
“I would LOVE that - talk about a voice that's goose-bump inducing, that would be Lea,” he said.
Salonga, on the other hand, said she would definitely love to visit “Idol” once she is in Los Angeles.
“@MichaelOrland Michael, you flatter me greatly. Would love to visit #Idol when I'm back in LA. In Florida now w/ David Burnham in concert,” she said.
Currently, only eight contestants are left in “Idol,” including Jessica Sanchez, who has Filipino roots.
They will be performing songs from the 1980s on Wednesday (Thursday morning in Manila).
