screen partners in "Rubi," the local remake of the Mexican series.
Cuenca said he wants his next relationship to be “the one,” citing Cruz and Magdayao as his inspiration.
“Feeling ko, ‘yung susunod na relationship na papasukan ko, I'd like for it to be the one. I mean, I envy what Shaina and John Lloyd have. I hope to have that one day, but I'm not in a rush,” Cuenca said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
“Pagka nasabi ko naman ‘yung words na ‘I love you’ this time around, I'm really going to dedicate myself to that person, whoever that is,” he added.
Cuenca broke up with actress Melissa Ricks last year.
Ricks is currently dating “Pinoy Big Brother” alumnus Paul Jake Castillo.
Asked if he dreams of getting married soon, Cuenca said: “Medyo maaga pa. Hindi pa ako masyado ready for that (pagpapakasal).”
“[Para sa akin] hindi naman porket artista ka, crossed out ka na… This time around, I’ve learned from my mistakes.”
‘Roles affect my personal life’
Cuenca plays the role of Paul in “Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo,” ABS-CBN’s newest afternoon series.
Paul’s love for Sarah, Magdayao’s character, is put to the test when Mia (played by Bangs Garcia) tries to break them apart.
Cuenca admitted that his roles, including his latest character, tend to affect his personal life.
“For me, every time I go home, nahihiya ako. This role kasi, parang mahal na mahal talaga ng character ko si Sarah pero niloko ko siya. So ‘pag matutulog ako sa bahay, parang ang sama-sama kong tao,” he said.
“This is still what I’m trying to figure out. Medyo mahirap. I’m not going to use this as an excuse, but I’d say my personal life has been kind of shaky before because I have a tendency na mahawa sa role. May time you call it bipolar, ‘di ba. After all these things, you just have to surround yourself with friends and family,” he added.
Despite this, Cuenca said he learned a lot from the characters he portrays, especially Paul.
“This role is teaching me a lot of things, parang eye-opener na masaya pala ‘yung ganoong buhay (being married). Hindi ka pressured kasi may asawa ka na,” he said.
“Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo” will start airing on April 16 as part of ABS-CBN’s afternoon Kapamilya Gold lineup.
