Veteran actress Cherie Gil
MANILA - (UPDATED) Veteran actress Cherie Gil walked out of the set of the ABS-CBN soap "Ikaw Lamang," Dreamscape publicity head Eric John Salut confirmed on Thursday.
On his Twitter and Facebook accounts, Salut said Gil wanted to leave the set of "Ikaw Lamang" at 10 p.m. to attend a send-off party even though she was supposed to shoot her scenes until 2 a.m.
In "Ikaw Lamang," Gil plays the role of Miranda, mother of Franco (Jake Cuenca).
"To set the record straight: Cherie Gil is supposed shoot her scenes till 2AM (the usual cut off) but she wanted to leave at 10PM to attend a send off party. Siyempre, hindi siya pinayagan ng production kasi hindi siya nagpaalam ahead of time.
"She was permitted to a 2-week leave for her musical play. The day she walked out of the taping was the day she resumed taping for Ikaw Lamang. Why blame the production? Why blame the writers? This is not fair! Teka lang ha," Salut wrote.
Gil, for her part, complained about the alleged lack of work ethic in TV soaps. On Friday afternoon, Gil also accused Salut of "completely [twisting] the truth," adding she will no longer speak on the matter.
"Work ethics? Why can't it exist in the world of soaps? Sadly it doesn't. There must be a better way," she wrote.
"Ikaw Lamang" stars Coco Martin, Kim Chiu, Julia Montes and Cuenca. It airs weeknights after "Dyesebel" as part of ABS-CBN's primetime block
