MANILA – While admitting that she has a long-time crush on suitor Paulo Avelino, KC Concepcion said she is taking her time before entering into a new relationship.
In an interview with “Aquino and Abunda Tonight” on Tuesday, Concepcion said she no longer can afford to go through another heartbreak.
“Paulo and I are very very good friends, isa talaga siya sa mga best friends na meron ako. But I’m not leaving it at best friend. Siyempre at this point, tinitignan ko rin kung baka naman okay siya maging boyfriend. Ayaw ko na ng heartbreak,” she said.
Explaining that she doesn’t want to pressure herself, Concepcion added: “Nandun na rin ako sa point na you want to make sure na you end up with someone who fits like a glove. I’m still giving it time.”
Concepcion, however, maintained that Avelino is continuously exerting effort to win her heart.
“Oo naman [nanliligaw pa rin siya]. Paulo is a good man with a good heart. He is so sweet. He is so thoughtful. He’s a really good dad lalo na kapag nakita mo siya taking care of his kid, nakakakilig din. Pero promise hindi kami. He knows that I’m in New York. I’m trying to pursue something. Ang mahal mahal ng long distance,” she told hosts Boy Abuna and Kris Aquino.
Asked if Avelino has already met her parents, Concepcion briefly said: “Nung nagkasakit ako sa hospital. Si nurse Paulo.”
Concepcion is currently in the Philippines while on vacation from her studies in New York, where she is taking up advanced acting classes in the Big Apple to further improve her craft.
Sharing more about her learning experience in the United States, Concepcion said, “Matagal ko na dream ang New York, three years ago pa. May isang teacher ako na siya yung casting director ng ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ and ‘Pitch Perfect.’ Yun yung mga nagiging teachers ko.”
Concepcion said her acting awards here in the Philippines pushed her to learn more about being an actress.
‘Coming from Best Supporting Actress, talagang akala ko years and years pa bago ako makakuha ng Best Actress. Hindi ko talaga inisip na Best Actress mabibigay nila sa akin. I was really really happy. Sabi ko after that, kailangan ko na talagang pagbutihin ang pag-arte kasi kailangan mo na seryosohin,” she said, referring to her Best Supporting Actress win at last year's Star Awards for TV for the drama series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala."
Concepcion was recently named by the Philippine Movie Press Club as the Best Actress for her performance in the movie “Boy Golden.”
