MANILA, Philippines – Actress Iza Calzado has started shooting her scenes in the third installment of the John Lloyd-Sarah movie series.
|Iza Calzado is all-smiles during her contract-signing with
Star Cinema. From the press conference, she went
straight to the shoot of her new film with John Lloyd Cruz
and Sarah Geronimo.
During her contract-signing with Star Cinema for a three-picture deal Wednesday, Calzado confirmed that she will start shooting for the currently untitled “AshLloyd” starrer right after inking her contract with ABS-CBN’s film production outfit.
“I just a signed a three-picture deal with Star Cinema at ang kauna-unahang pelikula na gagawin ko ay ‘yung pelikula nila John Lloyd at Sarah,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
“At ngayon ay makakasama nila ako sa ikatlong installment of the series which actually starts today, my shoot is later, in a bit, mga in 30 minutes,” she said.
On her role for the film, Calzado chose to divulge details, but said her character won’t be doing a Cherie Gil on Geronimo, as inspired by a scene in film classic “Bituing Walang Ningning.”
“It’s good they are all wondering kung ano ‘yung magiging role ko, so isa ‘yan sa mga dapat niyong abangan – kung ano nga ba ang magiging character ko at kung manggugulo ba ako, at kung magiging maayos ba ang kwento nila dahil sa akin,” she said.
“Pelikula po ito ah, hindi ko naman po tatapunan ng wine o tubig dito [si Sarah] – ‘yung very Cherie Gil and Sharon Cuneta.”
On the film series’ established fanbase and tried-and-tested pair up, Calzado said she is thankful to be part of an already “fantastic” franchise, especially since this will be her first romantic-comedy film.
“Masaya po ako dahil ibig sabihin magiging maganda nanaman. Kumbaga dahil nasubukan na, I’m pretty sure that this third installment will be just as fantastic as the first two,” she said.
“And hopefully I will add a different kind of flavor to the film, and because it is rom-com, I’m also very excited at natsa-challenge ako kasi hindi pa ako gumagawa ng rom-com na pelikula.”
The film is slated to be shown in June or July, and is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
