To answer the title question — Leila, Ogie Alcasid's daughter with former wife Michelle van Eimeren, returned home from Australia to reconnect with her Filipino roots and try her hand at showbiz.
"I think because I've felt like I've missed a lot of time here," Leila said on "Tonight with Boy Abunda," adding that she was only 4 when she first left the Philippines to live with her mom.
"I realized that I missed so much. I didn't even know much about my own culture so I felt like I needed to come back and spend time here."
Explaining that she wants to build a career on acting and singing, she told the talk show: "I really like acting I found. It's weird for me because I would have never thought of it before."
"Back in Australia, I was not into the arts in that kind of way, it was surprising for me. But then I came here, took workshops and stuff, and I really loved it," she said.
Leila's first big project would be performing on "ASAP" this Sunday with other celebrity kids such as Gary Valenciano's daughter, Kiana, and Sharon Cuneta's eldest child with Senator Francis Pangilinan, Frankie.
