MANILA -- Joey Marquez will no longer be part of the entertainment talk show "Showbiz Inside Report" starting Saturday next week.
The 55-year-old comedian-host bid farewell to the ABS-CBN program during its episode on Saturday, March 23, a week before the start of the official campaign period for local candidates in the May 13 polls.
Marquez is running for a congressional seat representing the second district of Paranaque.
He first served in public office as vice-mayor of Paranaque City from 1992 to 1995. He then had three terms as mayor in the same city until 2004.
The former "Palibhasa Lalake" star joined "Showbiz Inside Report" as co-host, along with Carmina Villaroel, Janice de Belen and Ogie Diaz, in February 2012.
"Nalulungkot ako dahil ang saya-saya dito eh. It's a pleasure and honor working with you guys. Magagaling kayong lahat," Marguez told his co-hosts on Saturday.
As co-host of the program, Marquez had one-on-one interviews with several celebrities as a weekly "inside report." Notably, he interviewed his former wife Alma Moreno, the actress' son Vandolph Quizon, friend and co-star John Estrada, and former Kapamilya star Hero Angeles.
"Sa lahat ng mga na-interview ko, isang malaking karangalan na pagbigyan nila akong makausap nila," he said.
"Isang natutunan ko sa kanila, akala ko alam ko lahat eh. Ngayon, alam ko na na hindi ko pa alam lahat ng dapat malaman, matututunan ko sa kanila. Ang sarap ng feeling," Marquez added.
He also expressed gratitude to the management of ABS-CBN for tapping him as co-host of "Showbiz Inside Report."
"Sa lahat ng mga nagtiwala sa akin, thank you for giving me the opportunity na malabas ko 'yung ibang talent na pag-i-interview, and I hope I did not disappoint anyone," he said.
